The event is supposed to go for another 11 hours....
why are the animals gone and why have fireworks stopped dropping? o_O

From Official GW Site:

Starting at Noon Pacific (-7 GMT) on Saturday and concluding at Noon Pacific on Monday, The Frog will make his appearance every three hours in the three festival cities. Bring your fireworks and prepare to party!

So yeah, event should go on for another 3-4 Frog visits.

They made a mistake with the starting time of the event so I guess this is another mistake. Maybe somehow related to the first mistake... maybe they set a new starting time but forgot to change the ending time... just guessing here.

I started vanquishing Old Ascalon at 2:00 am MST (GMT-7) and was getting fireworks...

yes it ended early, methinks a dev messed up the ending time---ooooooops, hope he has a pink slip tomorrow, er, uhm today.
